Families are encouraged to bring their students—age 9 and older— to beat the summer rush and receive age-appropriate required immunizations or to catch up on immunizations they may not have received yet. \n“It is important to ensure our students have their required immunizations\, but we also know our families are busy\,” said Jennifer Crane\, MEd\, MSN\, RN\, director of Student Health Services for WCSD. “We are committed to providing them with a convenient time and place for their children to receive the immunizations they need and are working with NNPH to hold six clinics this spring at our schools after classes are dismissed for the day. We hope our families will make appointments in advance to lessen their wait times\, but we are also accepting walk-ins. We look forward to seeing our families at these clinics!” \n“It is important to remain up to date on immunizations\,” said Victoria Nicolson Hornblower\, NNPH IZ Program Supervisor.  “Regular vaccinations are crucial because it keeps you safe from serious diseases and helps stop the spread of diseases such as measles outbreaks in our community.” \nWCSD will contact families via the Connect Ed system with information about upcoming clinics. Families should bring parents’ identification and students’ insurance cards if they have them\, as insurance will cover immunization costs. If a family is not insured\, there will be no charge for immunizations. Parents or guardians must bring their identification and must accompany their students to the clinic. \nSchool vaccines for students who are nine years old and older will be available at this event\, and students must receive their required immunizations before coming to school when classes begin in August. \nThe meningococcal immunization (MCV4) and the Tdap are required for all Nevada 7th graders and new students in grades 7-12 enrolling in the Washoe County School District.
