In the dynamic landscape of healthcare, understanding your options for health insurance can often feel like navigating uncharted waters. That’s exactly why we offer the support of our Navigator Assisters here at Nevada Health Link. Navigators serve as trusted guides, equipped with the knowledge and expertise to assist and steer Nevadans in the right direction to securing the right health insurance plan that fits their budget and their needs.

Below we dive into what a Navigator is, how Nevadans can find them in our community, and how organizations can involve Navigators at their own community events.

So what is a Navigator?

A Navigator is a certified professional who provides personalized assistance to individuals and families, such as uninsured and underinsured populations, seeking health insurance through Nevada Health Link. The Navigator’s role revolves around simplifying the journey to obtaining health insurance. These individuals are not employed by private insurance brokers and have no direct affiliation with insurance carriers. They are simply trained to educate Nevadans about their coverage options and subsidy eligibility, offer unbiased guidance, clarify complex insurance terms, and facilitate enrollment.

Whether someone is exploring insurance for the first time or needs to make changes due to a life event, Navigators provide clear, understandable information to help them in the process of making informed decisions about their health.

Finding Navigators in the Community

Nevadans can easily connect with Navigators through various community channels. They can be found at local health fairs, job fairs, multicultural festivals, various expos and more.

Presence at these events allow Navigators to provide detailed guidance on the enrollment process and readily answer common questions about Nevada Health Link offerings, meeting you exactly where you are at. A full list of upcoming events can be found on our website here. If you ever see Nevada Health Link navigators at an event, feel free to stop by and say hi!

Another great way to get in touch is through Nevada Health Link’s local partnerships with community health centers and advocacy organizations. A full list of who and what these in-person assister organizations are can be found here.

Inviting Navigators to Community Events

Event organizers of local businesses and organizations are encouraged to invite Navigators to participate in events focused on healthcare education and community engagement. At the end of the day, the goal of our Navigators is to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed healthcare decisions and we’d love to be able to do just that at your next event!
